About Our System

Solar Power in Action

We started this site to educate our family and friends on solar energy. As prices of gas and oil skyrocket, we wanted to show that clean, renewable power from the sun is a real, proven option for homeowners.

🆕 Milestone Update — March 2013

Our solar meter reached 99,560 kWh — approaching 100,000 kWh of clean solar power generated right here in Warwick, RI. Six years of data and counting!

Photovoltaic Panels

55 Kyocera 187-Watt high-efficiency multicrystal PV modules — 45 on the main roof and 10 on the garage. Each panel comes with a 25-year warranty.

Grid-Tied Inverters

Three FRONIUS inverters connect directly into National Grid, our local utility. When the sun shines, our electric meter actually spins backwards.

🌎

Clean Energy

Our system replaces power that would otherwise be produced by coal, oil, and natural gas plants — reducing our family's carbon footprint every single day.

📈

~13,000 kWh/Year

Our 10.285 kW/DC system was designed to produce approximately 13,000 kilowatt-hours per year — enough to power a typical Rhode Island home.
